The Learning and Diagnostic Center at Weston Psychological Associates recognizes that determining if a child has AD/HD is a multifaceted process.

There are many biological and psychological problems that can contribute to symptoms similar to AD/HD. A comprehensive evaluation is necessary to establish a diagnosis, rule out other causes and determine the presence or absence of co-existing conditions.

Our evaluations are conducted by psychologists using a multidisciplinary, clinical approach.

Our evaluation includes:

  • a careful history from the parents and teachers and when appropriate from the child,
  • clinical assessment of the individual’s intellectual, academic, social and emotional functioning and developmental level.
Before a diagnosis is made our clinical team, a child/adolescent psychologist and a psycho-educational psychologist review the evaluation.
The Learning and Diagnostic Center’s approach to treatment is comprehensive and is multimodal and often includes:

  • Parent training
  • Behavioral intervention strategies
  • An appropriate education program
  • Education regarding AD/HD
  • Individual, family and group counseling
  • School conferences
  • Teacher consultations
  • Medication, when required
