The Learning and Diagnostic Center at Weston Psychological Associates recognizes that determining if a child has AD/HD is a multifaceted process.
There are many biological and psychological problems that can contribute to symptoms similar to AD/HD. A comprehensive evaluation is necessary to establish a diagnosis, rule out other causes and determine the presence or absence of co-existing conditions. Our evaluations are conducted by psychologists using a multidisciplinary, clinical approach.
Our evaluation includes: - a careful history from the parents and teachers and when appropriate from the child,
- clinical assessment of the individual’s intellectual, academic, social and emotional functioning and developmental level.
| | Before a diagnosis is made our clinical team, a child/adolescent psychologist and a psycho-educational psychologist review the evaluation. | | The Learning and Diagnostic Center’s approach to treatment is comprehensive and is multimodal and often includes: | - Parent training
- Behavioral intervention strategies
- An appropriate education program
- Education regarding AD/HD
- Individual, family and group counseling
- School conferences
- Teacher consultations
- Medication, when required
